Online Finance and Accounting Degrees Remain in High Demand
by Gabby Hyman
Online Education Columnist

The nation's business thrives on a bottom line. There's an unending cry on job boards everywhere for qualified financial operations workers and managers. Nowhere is the demand and subsequent prediction of finance and accounting job growth more evident than on the Department of Labor's website. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), business services are among the industry sectors with the strongest employment growth through 2014.

There is a wide range educational requirements for positions in this rapidly expanding work force, including associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees. But one thing is certain, if you begin online finance or accounting training now, there will be plenty of room for advancement in the business world.

Finance and Accounting Degrees among Most-Wanted

The BLS reports that applicants in business and financial operations will find openings that will grow twice as fast as all other sectors in the economy. Some 6 out of 10 positions will require only associate or bachelor's degrees for entry. That's great news if you're returning to school or continuing your education in a flexible online training program in finance or accounting.

Financial services jobs, says the BLS, will see exceptional growth. Top jobs will be in information technology management, purchasing, banking, and auditing. Most accountants and auditors will need a bachelor's degree in accounting. Real estate appraisers and cost estimators with associate's and undergrad degrees will also remain in high demand. Private or personal financial analysts and investment specialists with "a professional designation" will fare exceptionally well, according to the BLS.

Training for a Finance Job

Online degrees in finance or accounting should meet many requirements, particularly an Associates of Applied Science in Business Administration or Management, a Bachelor's of Science in Management or Business, and a Master's of Business Administration with specializations in finance, IT, marketing, human resources, and corporate management.
